SIOUX FALLS — One of several proposed pipeline systems to deliver Missouri River water in South Dakota could cost $8.4 billion to $10 billion, according to estimates shared Monday.

Republican voters will select their nominee for governor today in South Dakota’s first statewide runoff election.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. The runoff is the only item on the ballot, and because the state Republican Party does not open its primaries to non-Republican voters, only registered Republicans are allowed to vote. The registration deadline was July 13.

Gov. Larry Rhoden has asked the federal government to help pay for nearly $4.6 million in damage to public property in South Dakota caused by storms late last month and early this month.
Wind gusts of 100 miles an hour or more tore through central and eastern South Dakota between June 28 and July 3, hitting Hyde and Beadle counties the hardest.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Monday called on the U.S. Senate to cancel its five-week August break, keeping lawmakers in session to advance several of his priorities, despite not having the votes.
Trump wrote in a social media post that he wanted Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., to keep the chamber open, preventing vulnerable Republicans facing reelection from the campaign trail, to pass a voter identification bill, among other measures.
